Sony pulled its catalog from Boomplay amid claims the streaming service has not paid royalties in over 1.5 years. Bandsintown unveiled 2024 High Notes, focused on the year in live music, including 7.5B personalized event recs. Apple Music debuted 3 new radio stations focusing on Latin music, club culture and relaxation.

Jay-Z was accused of raping a 13-year-old in 2000 with Sean Combs. He denied all allegations and called the case “extortionate”.

Another week, another round of layoffs - this time at CD Baby

After she wrapped up the highest-grossing tour of all time (highlights on the tour in The Live World), fans called out mistakes in Taylor Swift’s official tour book, calling it the “Errors Tour.” The court ruled in favor of Johnny Ramone’s Widow, Linda Cummings-Ramone in the ongoing feud for control of the band’s legacy, causing further obstacles to Netflix’s doc on the band. Ad-supported streaming app Musi accused Apple of a “backchannel scheme” to remove its app from the App Store. Morgan Wallen was sentenced to a week in a DUI education center + 2 years probation after pleading guilty to throwing a chair from a Nashville rooftop.

Producer Bassnectar’s heading to trial after the motion to dismiss a sexual abuse and trafficking lawsuit against him was denied. NBA YoungBoy was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison for possession of firearms. Daft Punk’s Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem returned to theaters in over 40 countries for one day only. The New South Wales government plans to make the Australian state a “global music powerhouse.”
